chick-fi-WHAT?!?
yes, i’ll kinda be dissin’ chick-fil-a, even though i’m certain that over the yeeears i’ve spent a car note in that joint — especially in the summers. have you had their seasonal shakes?! *calm down, byron.* last year’s was peach-flavored and this year’s is banana pudding. *sheesh-my-knees….*
a few weeks back, a personal trainer friend, patrice jones, posted fat and sugar content of the shake on facebook and i was alarmed and appalled at how high the numbers were. i went straight to their website to look at just what i’ve been putting in my body… including the honey-roasted bbq sauce that i so-love and won’t be denied. check em out.
sobering, huh? and to think…. chick-fil-a is one of the BETTER choices in fast food and we probably order from the menu without reservation — because it’s quality food, right? look, this is just information. you apply it how you like. if you find that you’ve sleepwalked to chick-fil-a, you CAN opt to stay on course by choosing a salad, removing sandwich bread, or splitting fries with someone.
last weekend, my 4-year old goddaughter karrington and her 5-year old cousin, caleb, wanted to play in the chick-fil-a playground and we had to go there. aaaall for the kids 🙂 i ordered the tasty southwest chargrilled salad and removed the black beans and chinese noodle toppings — whose values aren’t included in the above numbers. because i like their fries (and never said i’d never have another), i snuck a few of caleb’s fries and slathered put my bbq sauce on them. *yeeeeeeeeeeeeeees*
CONFESSION TIME: i ordered a banana pudding milkshake — even after patrice’s facebook post and my own research. well, my family hadn’t tried it yet! so i bought it and *wait for it!* passed it around the table… we all shared it. 3 adults and 2 kids spooned it until it was kaput. #shrug #divide-by-5
live your life, go places, do things, eat stuff… but don’t blame it all on life. when you know better, do better. i entered chick-fil-a armed and ready to make better choices.
now go look yours up at chick-fil-a.com.

I do consider Chick-fil-a one of the better choices among fast food restaurants. However, when I go in to order, I don’t always make the better choice. Thanks for laying it all out there (calories, fat content, etc.)!
I just so happen to love their salads. So, I’m glad to see that its numbers weren’t off the chart.
Thanks for reminding us that we CAN make better choices.

*Clutches pearls* B, I stay away from shakes because of high fat content but 1000+ calories? If I drink something with that many calories it better be anti-aging, teeth whitening, strength boosting..LOL!…ehhhh you get the picture. Thanks for sharing this info!

MONI!!! Read the rest of it! 🙂
I work hard enough and make sacrifices enough in my life to where if I’m out with family or friends, I’ll indulge. I’m actually in Las Vegas right now. Whacha think? LOL
SONYA!! Aren’t their salads the truth. Make sure you put a dollop of my sauce on a fry and sneak it! 🙂
BP (Le’)! I always say if I’m drinking that many calories, it better be a MEEEEEEEAAAAN cocktail. SMH. It’s my pleasure to share the info.
Thank you all for weighing in, friends.
