Snack Time: Healthy Ice Cream Alternative

So is it getting warmer where you live? If you’re like me, as soon as I feel the sun beam down on my arms — even a little bit — words like “Rita” “Haagen-Daz” “Slurpee” and “Coldstone” rise up in my spirit. So yeah… as you’re thinking “ice cream” these days, consider new treat that I read about on Health.com and finally tried yesterday. I give it top marks and you’ll feel good about eating it.

My last “Snack Time” entry was something you had to make; this one is one that comes ready-made… It’s the new Frozen Kefir from Lifeway. I’m a huge fan of kefir–it tastes great and is loaded with probiotics–so I was excited to hear that a kefir frozen treat existed. In flavors like strawberry, pomegranate, mango, or vanilla flavors a half-cup portion serves up only 90 calories and 4 grams of protein, including 10 different good-for-you probiotics that may keep digestion in check and help you stay beach-ready.

The statement that struck me on Health.com: “It tastes like a splurge, but it’s healthy enough to go back for seconds, thanks to its calcium and probiotics. Keep this one on hand for when you need something chilled and tasty.”

Disclaimer: This is not to say that I won’t be at a Rita’s stand this summer with my goddaughter, Karrington or that I won’t veer off into Coldstone while out with the young lady, but I’m keeping those outings in check.  Try these alternatives for normative summer survival. See?
